I am a total music addict. I have been singing and performing since I was a little girl. I am in a madrigal singing group called KnightSong, and have a great time combining renaissance costuming with my singing. I was a music major in college, and since I was exposed to almost every kind of music there is, I love listening to almost everything. My latest obsession has been with Japanese pop groups and composers, like Chage & Aska, Megumi Hayashibara, Two-Mix, Yoko Kanno, and Joe Hisaishi. If you hit "random" on my cd-player you might hear "Carmina Burana", The Muppets, "Wine, Woman, & Song", Metallica, Escaflowne, Alanis Morisette, and Weird Al Yankovic in quick succession... |
Anime is a term for "Japanese Animation". When I was a little girl I used to watch anime and I didn't even know it. I'd get up early before school so I could catch "Battle of the Planets" on channel 17. Then a few years ago someone recommended "My Neighbor Totoro" to me, and I fell in love with the film. I looked for other movies by the same director, Hayao Miyazaki, and found out that there are lots of wonderful Japanese films and videos. I was instantly addicted! I created a page of important anime links. Something that I really enjoy is dressing up as my favorite anime characters, and activity known as Cosplay. The most important thing, though, is just watching anime and enjoying it! |
I learned to sew in a high school sewing class (thank you Mrs. Sykes!). It has turned out to be one of the most important classes I ever took. I love creating amazing garments from nothing but a piece of cloth. Costumes are the most fun for me to make, since they're much more interesting than regular clothes! I have a special page dedicated to Costuming, with sections on the different costumes I like to make the most- Historical fashions, Anime Cosplay, and Science Fiction and Fantasy designs. I love to sew for friends and I make custom designed costumes in any style for anyone who is interested. If you would like me to create a costume for you, please let me know! |

There are so many films and books I like that it's impossible to name them here... ^_^ When I read for fun I like the sf and fantasy genres the most. Some of my favorite authors are Terry Pratchett, Robert Heinlein, and Terry Goodkind. I love Star Wars and Star Trek (and unlike most Trek fans I happen to like all of the series). My fantasy and science fiction obsessions have leaked into my costuming hobby, and are a favorite design to create. |

I spent my growing years living in a beautiful town named Dacula (pronounced "duh-QUE-la", not like "Dracula" ^_^). It was a lovely rural place with farms and few people, but everyone knew everyone else, which was usually a good thing. The sky at night was unsurpassed in beauty, because there were no bright lights to drown out the amazing astronomical view. The town has changed a lot in recent years, falling victim to urban sprawl.
